Penelope Gil (writer, actress, director, producer) is a Los Angeles based filmmaker. For the past decade she has lived a double life as a multi-disciplinary artist and in turn has worked for a handful of notable artists and filmmakers, such as directors Sofia Coppola and Julie Delpy. 

She collaborated with photographer/ filmmaker Cheryl Dunn and made a short experimental film, VIVA. It was selected and featured for the first time at Marfa Film Festival 2013. In 2016, she collaborated on the experimental film The Artist is the Medium with artist Lisa Solberg, which premiered at The Standard Downtown Los Angeles X 24 Hr Psychic show. 

In 2018 she wrote and directed her first short narrative film ALMA made in Mexico City and premiered at Cine Tonala 2018, The Unentitled Screening Alliance California, 2019 and The Underground Film Festival at Roxy Cinema Tribeca 2019 where she won the Audience Choice Award.

Currently she has her second short narrative film in post-production for 2024.
